I am a dog lover, compulsive list maker, avid reader, Batman nerd and tomato hater (unless it's ketchup). I grew up with a healthy love of books. I read everything from Anne Rice, Virginia Woolf, Charles Dickens to Stephen King. A characters journey is eternal and can be relived, again and again. I love the challenge and reward of writing. Hearing from readers is the best reward a writer can receive.
"I want to be unpredictable in my writing. Standards are meant to be challenged and surprise is a welcome change from the mundane. I write in any setting and find joy in throwing my characters into a world of unusual happenings, or it might be a world we recognize that the characters build into something wholly unique. I am inspired by danger, desire and change."
ON THE BUTTERFLY AND THE MOONBEAM:
"I wanted to write a coming of age book about girls that were just like me. I wasn't a vampire, or a fairy or particularly good at archery. Kathleen and Lucy are quite ordinary, but their lives are not. They are faced with challenges that, unfortunately, are quite real: alcoholism, abuse, abandonment. I wanted to tell that story and explore that bravery."
ABOUT THE DESERT PLEASURES SERIES:
"I wanted to offer readers a series that was inclusive like Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Each book stands on its own. You can jump in anywhere. I also wanted to write books that were not traditional. Several of the books in that series are written from the man's point of view. Relationships are too complex to be predictable."
